Kevin Hart out as Oscars host due to homophobic tweets

When there are no signs of growth, yes, your past tweets will haunt you.

We should stop referring to digging up tweets or ferreting them out or unearthing them. Twitter-searching "Kevin Hart gay" didn't take a masters in forensics or an earth-moving machine. His jokes were not a secret. LGBT people knew to look. Everything here is public forever.

@MarkHarrisNYC, discussing the homophobic tweets by Kevin Hart that led to him stepping down Friday as the host of the upcoming Academy Awards. In response to defenders of Hart who said his 2011 tweets had been dug up maliciously, many noted that it’s easy to find old tweets. Others said that given Hart’s initial refusal to atone — the Academy allegedly told him to apologize or step down — and the reality that LGBT people are vulnerable to violence, he should be held accountable for his past comments.

Just want to note how often he mentioned that this hosting gig was his dream and how willing he was to give up said dream instead of...just...apologizing sincerely and taking accountability for his homophobia. https://t.co/ZxZBQuHRtt

Horribly misleading. He didn’t FAIL to apologize, he refused to apologize AGAIN knowing full well that he would be passing on the gig by doing so. It’s a loss for the oscars, not @KevinHart4real

— Adam Looney (@G_A_Loon) December 9, 2018

If Kevin Hart had made the EXACT same apology during the controversy that he did after he stepped down, there’s a good chance he would still be hosting the #Oscars.

His commitment to intolerance superseded his desire to have what he called his “dream job,” which he had secured.

— April (@ReignOfApril) December 7, 2018

Kevin Hart would rather drop out of hosting the Oscar then apologize. Ain’t that some telling ass bullshit.

Mac Miller was a talented artist. The Grammys finally recognized that.

Mac Miller died not knowing he’d ever be nominated for a Grammy and my heart is broken all over again

— brendan bennett (@33brendan33) December 7, 2018

@33brendan33, reacting to news that the late rapper’s August album “Swimming” was nominated for best rap album. Fans were overwhelmed upon hearing the news because Miller had said in multiple interviews that he hoped to receive a Grammy. He died on Sept. 7 at age 26.

Seeing @MacMiller get a Grammy nomination absolutely breaks my heart. He would have been freaking out rn, he deserved this years and years ago

— Christopher Lefevre (@ceejsweatshirt) December 7, 2018

It's a shame Mac Miller couldn't be here to witness his first ever GRAMMY nomination. Years of hardwork, building, & success. Hadn't even reached his peak yet. Glad his album was considered, because 'SWIMMING' is fantastic.

cannot believe mac miller is nominated for a grammy and he’s not even here to see it. so much love for that man. he deserves it.

I am in tears of JOY! I am so proud of you @MacMiller first Grammy Nomination & only the beginning. Your legacy & your music will live forever because a legend never dies.

Captain America has two moods: Bearded fugitive and clean-shaven sad guy. (But we love him either way.)

@msdanifernandez, joking about Captain America’s new look in the first trailer for “Avengers: Endgame,” which covers the aftermath of the villain Thanos killing off half of Earth’s population. Though the superhero’s bearded look in the previous film, “Avengers: Infinity War,” took many by surprise, fans were sad to see it go after only one movie.

Steve Rogers must be the only person in the world who would shave a beard when he's extra-sad instead of growing more of one.

RIP Steve Rogers’ beard, we knew you far too briefly

A velvet sweater? In Hawaii? In this climate change?

So they’re going to do a synchronized dance on the beach in high heels? good luck with that.

— mrsj74, Reddit

A Reddit user, reacting to demands by a bride-to-be that her guests wear specific outfits for dancing at her Hawaii wedding. She assigned pricey outfits (including Louboutin heels) based on guests’ weight and also asked them to bring a change of formalwear. After her Facebook post was leaked and went viral, the bride announced a “Polygraph Party” to find out who the “snitch” was.

This is technically a very prolonged bow.

There are times as an adult I wish I could do that and get away with it. Good on him

@amandaplant2011, empathizing with 9-year-old Nathan Grant after he was overwhelmed upon meeting Queen Elizabeth II. In video of the incident, Nathan stands wide-eyed as she approaches, before ducking to the ground and crawling away. He ends his escape with a wave as he exclaims “Bye!” from the door.

Man, I feel for him because I've been in situations where I wished I could have done exactly that.
