Tom Cruise is taking our breath away again.

A second action-packed trailer for “Top Gun: Maverick,” which hits theaters June 26, 2020, dropped Monday, giving fans another look at Cruise, 57, in the long-awaited follow-up to the beloved 1986 fighter-pilot drama.

Back in July at ComicCon, Cruise premiered the first trailer for the film, the original of which launched Cruise into life as a hunky A-list action star. Now, the seasoned pro returns for his role as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell — this time as a flight instructor for the Air Force.

“Your instructor’s one of the finest pilots this program’s ever produced,” Mav’s commanding officer tells recruits in the trailer. “His exploits are legendary. What he has to teach you may very well mean the difference between life and death.”

Scenes from the flick have Cruise leading a team of flyboys through the air, saying, “Good morning, aviators, this is your captain speaking. Today’s exercise is dogfighting.”

The star-studded cast for the “Top Gun” sequel also includes Miles Teller, 32, who will play the all-grown-up son of Goose. Also on the lineup is Jon Hamm, 48, Lewis Pullman, 26, and Ed Harris, 69, according to Deadline.

Notably, Kelly McGillis, 62, will not be reprising her role as Charlie. Instead, actress Jennifer Connelly, 49, has been confirmed as the female lead.

“If and when [I was asked], I would have to assess where I am, what I’m doing, what’s going on,” McGillis told Entertainment Tonight. “I can’t project what I would or wouldn’t do in the future. I have no idea because I don’t know where I’ll be.”

Among other actors in the original film, Val Kilmer, 59, will be returning to the sequel, but Meg Ryan, 58, will not.

Eagle-eyed fans noticed over the summer that Maverick’s iconic bomber jacket had two key changes: Patches that had originally shown the Japanese and Taiwanese flags have been replaced with two ambiguous symbols in the same color scheme, leading to speculation that the swap was meant to appease China.
